Kenyan Rapper Octopizzo Set For Grammy Awards

Kenyan rapper Octopizzo has become the first rapper from the country to be invited to the world's biggest music awards show, the Grammy Awards.

The Red Namba Plate hitmaker received an invitation to attend the 6oth Annual Grammy Awards which will be helds in New York's Madison Square Garden on January 28.

Octopizzo revealed that he would wear a t-shirt with his late parents' image as he wished they were there to witness his successs.

He has been one of Kenya's most in-demand artists since he came out in 2014 with his break-out single Voices of Kibera which featured Kayvo Kforce.

Since then, he has released multiple hit singles and three albums; Chocolate City, Long Distance Paper Chaser (LDPC) and Refugeenius.

He has also been vocal on pertinent issues to the lives of young Kenyans, especially police brutality.

Following the Presidential elections in 2017, Octopizzo was applauded by many after he went to Kibera to quell tensions between the police and angry youth, easing fears of violence.

He has also been involved in several projects with refugees in various camps in Kenya.

This year's Grammy Awards will be hosted by Carpool Karaoke host James Corden.

Among the nominees are international stars Kendrick Lamar, Migos and Jay Z.
