NASA Announce Their Plan Against CS Nominees

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday announced Cabinet Secretary nominees whose names will be forwarded to Parliament for approval and politicians allied to NASA have stated that they will boycott the sessions.

National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi on Sunday revealed that they were busy focusing on the swearing-in of opposition leader Raila Odinga and will not forward any name to the committee.

“There is no change of mind. We are not going to forward any name to the committee.

“We are busy preparing for the swearing-in of Mr Raila Odinga and Mr Kalonzo Musyoka," reiterated Mbadi.

The Committee on Appointments is chaired by the National Assembly Speaker and is mandated to vet cabinet secretary appointees while those picked for principal secretary positions are vetted by departmental committees.

This comes as politicians allied to the Kenya African National Union (KANU) stated that they expect the remaining Cabinet slots to be filled by parties that supported President Kenyatta's re-election.

West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo revealed that KANU expected some of the positions in fulfilment of their pre-election agreement with Jubilee Party.

"KANU leaders and members across the country, without fear, chose to support President Kenyatta's re-election efforts and that stands to date.

"There is one appointing authority in Kenya for the positions of Cabinet secretaries and principal secretaries, who is the President.

"The focus is on him and his team,” reiterated Prof Lonyangapuo.
