Bishop Sapit Asks Govt to Provide Security During Raila's Swearing-in

Anglican Church of Kenya Archbishop, Jackson ole Sapit, on Sunday asked the government to provide security for NASA leaders during their planned swearing-in.

Speaking during a church service at St Michael’s All Angels Cathedral in Bondo, Siaya County, Sapit stated that the use of excessive force on the Opposition supporters only leads to bloodshed

“The Constitution provides for the right to life and it is my appeal to the Government not to engage NASA supporters in any form of confrontation.

“NASA supporters, just like any other Kenyans, must be provided with a conducive environment to conduct their ceremony," he remarked, despite the fact that he does not support the swearing-in.

He further urged NASA supporters to conduct themselves in an orderly manner to prevent violence.

Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo and his Bondo counterpart Gideon Ochanda, however, maintained the swearing-in of NASA leaders would go on as planned.

“We have reached the end of all legitimate means and the swearing-in is now unstoppable,” stated Mr Amollo.

Ochanda reiterated that it was too late to stop the event as Jubilee Party leaders had delayed calls for dialogue.

“We have been living in doubt over who won the August 8 elections but after the server details were released on Thursday, we have no option but to take an oath as the winners,” he remarked.

NASA is set to swear-in Odinga on January 30 at Uhuru Park despite police warning that Uhuru Park is out of bounds.
