DP Ruto's Message to Raila Ahead of Swearing-in

NASA leader Raila Odinga is set to be sworn-in as President on January 30 despite police warning that Uhuru Park is out of bounds.

Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday urged the nation to focus on development and aimed a dig at the opposition, telling them the country had already moved on.

“We had almost a period of one year to determine who is the President, who is the Governor, who is the Member of Parliament, that season is now over.

“The period we are in right now is to create jobs for millions of our young people, people to have food, to have health insurance and build houses for Kenyans, that’s the work we will do in the next five years,” stated the DP.

He further urged members of the public to ignore all the sideshows because the government was working with NASA leaders to ensure development without bias.

“As Nairobi leaders, we are working together with both Jubilee and NASA leaders. I want to urge you to ignore any sideshows.

"I want to assure all Kenyans regardless of who they voted for or where they come from that the Government led by Uhuru Kenyatta as I deputize him, we will work for every single Kenyan so that we can take our country forward,” he reiterated.

Last week, Odinga was quoted stating that Ruto would not be President in 2022 without his support but the former Prime Minister's adviser Salim Lone has rubbished those claims.

Mr Lone stated that the media missed the humour in the former Prime Minister's sentiments and ended up reporting them a serious remark.

"When pigs fly" is a popular English idiom which is used when one wants to point to something that will never happen.

"And that is what Mr Raila Odinga was saying. He was using humour to highlight the impossibility of Mr Ruto thinking he might be president in 2022.

"I can now confirm, having just talked to Mr Odinga, that he was NOT telling his arch opponent that he could support him," he added on his Facebook page.
