Sakaja Addresses Alleged Rift With Mike Sonko

After a report by a local daily on Monday claimed that a rift had emerged between Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and Senator Johnson Sakaja, the latter has divulged that there are people working to push the narrative so as to divide them.

In a conversation with Kenyans.co.ke, Sakaja stated: "There must be someone behind this story...Whoever is trying to create a rift will not succeed."

The report had alleged that Sonko's camp, primarily made up of Jubilee MCAs, had accused Senator Sakaja's team of working to sabotage the Governor's administration.

It alleged that Sakaja was working with some MPs and a few MCAs to frustrate the Governor as part of a strategy to succeed him in 2022.

The Senator, however, rubbished the rumours noting that he had always been fully behind Sonko and his agenda.

"Who is pushing this story? There is no such thing. The Governor's success is in our interest," he noted.

On Sunday night, Sakaja had stated in a television interview that Governor Sonko should disregard controversy and work for Nairobi.

"For the first three years people don't understand what you're doing, but in the fourth year when they see the fruits of what you're doing, then they'll love you.

"That has always been my advice to my good friend the Governor," Sakaja expressed.
