Video of Mike Sonko's Wife Sparks Reactions

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Wednesday shared a video of his wife, County First Lady Primrose Mbuvi, addressing members of the public that sparked reactions.

The Nairobi First Lady was addressing victims of the tragic Lang'ata fire conveying a message from the Governor concerning compensation and resettlement.

The post triggered reactions as some of the Governor's followers pointed out a typo on his caption. Others were impressed by the rarely seen First Lady applauding her for making the visit to the Southlands residents.

Governor Sonko captioned the video: "First Lady Nairobi County Primrose Mbuvi visiting the victims of Kijiji Lang'ata fire inferno. Among her donations are Blankets, Basins, Uga (flour), Clothing, Sanitary towels and other households items."

In her address, the First Lady declared that the Governor had waived rent for women who own small businesses in the slum area assuring the residents that they would be settled back into their homes.

"The Governor has said there will be no rent for the women who own small businesses here and I will make sure that he fulfills the pledge he made to the families that lost their loved ones to meet funeral expenses.

"The Governor also sent me to tell you that no poor person will be oppressed by those who want to grab the land you and your families are living in. Those who planned to take this land will not succeed," Mrs Mbuvi reiterated.

Lang'ata Member of Parliament (MP) Nixon Korir was also present at the gathering and assured the homeless residents that their homes would be rebuilt better than before.

The victims of the Sunday night inferno have been putting up at a temporary shelter in the area after Deputy President William Ruto announced that the government has allocated Sh70 Million to rebuild their homes. Four people perished in the fire.
