Renowned Media Personality Jeff Koinange on Friday responded to queries on whether he was leaving Royal Media Services (RMS) in light of the media shutdown.
Through his social media, Jeff refuted claims that he was leaving the local media scene and heading back to South Africa or Europe to continue with his media career.
"Aye, Jeff, are the rumors swirling around true that you are leaving the local scene and headed back to SA or 'probably Europe' after media shutdown becoming unbearable?
"Afadhali wewe. Kuna wengine wataenda kulima Mkombero Ocha, I tell you (At least you have a backup plan, there are others who will be forced to go back home to farming)," one user asked on Twitter.
Jeff, who recently featured as the top Kenyan journalist in 2017 by Kenyans.co.ke, responded to the tweet stating that he would stay in Kenya to tough it out with the rest of the journalists.
"Wewe wacha ku-spread RUMOURS.....Tuta kaa ngumu! (Stop spreading rumors, I shall stay firm)" he maintained.

On Tuesday, three TV stations, Citizen TV and Radio, NTV and KTN News, were shut down following their 'defiance' to follow an alleged order from President Uhuru Kenyatta restricting the live coverage of the controversial swearing-in ceremony of Raila Odinga as the People's President.
Interior CS Fred Matiang'i on Wednesday stated that the three TV stations that were switched off would remain so until the completion of investigations.
Earlier in November, Jeff revealed how he was fired through a phone call when he worked for global news network CNN.
Through a series on Hot 96 FM titled 'A Story a Day', Mr Koinange confessed that at the height of his career at CNN, his boss let him go while he was driving on a highway.

"My boss called me and asked me to pull off the highway (I was driving at the time) and he said 'Listen man, there is too much crap-too many rumors and I don't think we can sustain you any longer, we will need to let you go'," he explained.
