Mutahi Ngunyi Offers to Comfort Miguna in Jail with These 2 Gifts

Political analyst Professor Mutahi Ngunyi on Friday offered to comfort National Resistance Movement (NRM) self- proclaimed general Miguna Miguna who was arrested and spent the night at Githunguri police station.

Prof Ngunyi through his social media offered to send Dr Miguna two books that were written by the NRM general.

"Pole Miguna. As a guest of the state this weekend, I will comfort you by sending to your cell two books: Peeling Back the Mask and Kidneys for the King" he tweeted.

Dr Miguna published Peeling Back the Mask in 2012 which gave an insider's account from the coalition government after serving as an adviser for then Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The book generated twenty thousand hits on the publisher website within hours of its announcement and Google reports Miguna Miguna is in the top five subjects searched online in Africa.

In February 2013, Miguna published Kidneys for the King which he launched at the Panafric Hotel on Nairobi's Valley Road.

During the launch, he stated that the title of the book was inspired by threats he allegedly received from supporters of Raila.

“They called me and said that they would come for my kidneys and thus the name of the book,” Miguna conveyed.

On his official website, when Dr Miguna was vying for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat, he stated that he would be publishing two books before the 2017 elections.

Earlier on Friday, the outspoken lawyer was arrested from his house in Runda estate after the police conducted an early morning raid.

A section of National Super Alliance (NASA) supporters launched protests on Friday mid-morning in Kibera following the arrest of Miguna.

Later in the day, Judge James Wakiaga ordered for the release of the lawyer on a Sh50,000 bail pending the hearing of his case.

The controversial legal mind was also directed to appear before the court in person on Monday the following week.

However, events took an interesting turn when the self-proclaimed general of the now outlawed NRM, was rearrested and spent the night at Githunguri police station.

Advocate, Edwin Sifuna through his twitter stated that Miguna had been put back into the cells.

"Miguna has been put back in the cells a few minutes ago here at Githunguri Police Station. It appears orders have come to the local police to defy the High Court release order," Sifuna disclosed.
