How Raila Odinga Plans to Escape Arrest

The National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principals are said to have come up with a strategy to evade possible arrest following the swearing-in of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Senator Moses Wetangula and co-principal Musalia Mudavadi have allegedly been holding meetings with diplomatic missions seeking their protection.

Mr Odinga is also said to have missed a Baba Dogo Opposition rally on Sunday because he was holed up in a meeting with unspecified foreign envoys.

Conveying the NASA leader's apologies, Senator James Orengo explained that the people's President was attending to "state affairs".

According to a source close to the negotiations, the Wiper party leader, Mudavadi and Senator Wetangula met with diplomats from Britain, the United States, United Nations, Italy, Spain and Germany on Friday.

The three are said to have sought the delegates' support in opposing the alleged "harassment by the government".

"NASA is concerned with the recent spate of police clampdown on Opposition leaders and whose security details have been withdrawn and their firearm licences revoked," the source further confirmed.

The co-principals are said to be advocating for the media stations that have remained shut following orders from Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.

During the Opposition's Baba Dogo rally, Senator Orengo urged supporters not to be intimidated by the government actions citing that it was nothing new.

"Some of us were arrested during Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and his successor, Moi’s regimes, but we survived," Orengo stated.

He invited the supporters to join various NASA leaders in a march to Central Police Station on Tuesday where those who attended the swearing-in ceremony will demand to record statements explaining why they attended.
