The Billions Uhuru Kenyatta Will Spend in Kiambu Before 2022

Kiambu County is set to benefit from multi-billion projects that President Uhuru Kenyatta's second-term government aims to complete by 2022.

Deputy President William Ruto in January announced plans to improve road networks and establish water projects in the county to the tune of Sh50 Billion.

Construction of a Sh24 Billion dam in Gatundu North constituency is set to begin in March 2018 and be completed in two years.

The government, in December, kicked off phase one of the 600-acre project which involves compensating farmers whose land will be acquired for the project. Sh400 Million has been disbursed to this end.

Gatundu South and Lari constituencies are also set for new water projects even as construction of Sh17 Billion Ruiru Two dam kicks off in Githunguri constituency.

"The Government will work with local leaders to establish areas where we can initiate more water projects. Our intention is to make sure every homestead in the county has water," DP Ruto stated.

Early in February, DP Ruto launched a Sh1.5 Billion Gakukuyu-Mataara road project in Gatundu North and assured the residents that a further 400 kilometres of roads in the county would be tarmacked.

The Deputy President also announced that the Head of State would be visiting in a few months to launch the construction of the Githunguri-Kagwe-Kimende road.

He added that Sh800 Million had been allocated to the rehabilitation of the 23-kilometre Kwamaiko-Marige-Gathiru-ini road.

"We will be back here in a few months with the President to launch other link road projects estimated to be fifty kilometres.

"We will be coming to commission them because we already have the money to fund their construction," the DP assured.
