Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko Sponsors Valentine's Day Bash

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Wednesday marked Valentine's Day by sponsoring a series of parties for children within in the county.

Under the banner "First Lady's Valentines Bash" the Nairobi City County administration shared cakes and distributed roses to the Nile Road Special Needs School as well as former street children from the YMCA Makadara Constituency Rehabilitation Centre.

Nairobi County's First Lady, Primrose Mbuvi, spearheaded the initiative encouraging parents within the county to take care of their children, stop hiding those with special needs and instead keep them in school.

Mrs Mbuvi shared light moments with the children as she distributed the goodies and donations to the various institutions. Here is a video that was shared by Governor Sonko.

First Lady Primrose also delivered a cheque of Sh300,000 to the Eden House Foundation rehabilitation centre to assist it to establish new premises at Ngara area.

According to a statement from the Governor's office, Eden House was evicted from City Park where it had been illegally allocated by the previous regime.

"I have given Sh300,000 to the directors of Eden House to look for an alternative place to hire to continue with their great work and also we are still looking on their proposal so that we can partner with them," Primrose stated.

The Foundation's Executive Director, Boniface Ndirangu, thanked the Governor’s initiative and added that they had found a new apartment in Ngara.

"The Foundation seeks your assistance in relocating to a 100-bed capacity facility at Ramesh Guantama Road in Ngara, formerly known as Disney Hostels.

"We have faith in our Governor that we shall get assistance. What we are doing is a marvellous job that focuses on the drug addicts," Mr Ndirangu further stated.
