Sonko's Angry Remarks After Fake County Hall Letter

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Thursday expressed anger after a fake letter emerged claiming that all members of the County Executive Committee had threatened to resign.

Sonko stated that it had been crafted by cartels working against his administration.

"Nyinyi cartels you make me and my administration more stronger by fighting me all the times TAKATAKA GASIA WAIZI NYINYI (The cartels are making my administration stronger by fighting me at all times. Trash...thieves), stated Sonko.

He further added that the cartels were working to portray his leadership as unstable.

"Our attention has been drawn to a statement doing rounds on social media purporting that we, Members of the Nairobi City County Government, have threatened to resign allegedly due to interference in our work by non-members of staff of the county.

"We hereby categorically state that this statement is not true. It is a figment of fertile imagination from unknown sources.

"The agenda is clearly to portray the Nairobi County leadership as unstable. This is fake and malicious news which should be dismissed with the contempt it deserves.

Sonko reiterated that the 10 CEC Members remained steadfast in their commitment to serve the people of Nairobi and to support him in his vision to transform the lives of city residents.

On Wednesday, former Kamukunji legislator, Simon Mbugua, addressed allegations lodged against him by MCAs that he was running the show at City Hall since Polycarp Igathe resigned as the Deputy Governor.

Mbugua, who is an EALA MP, was alleged to have been insulting, intimidating and threatening county employees and leaders.

However, in a statement seen by Kenyans.co.ke,  Mr Mbugua maintained that he was not meddling in the City's affairs being a close friend of Sonko.

"While I am a great friend to the hardworking Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, I have never in any way meddled in the operations of the county," Mbugua affirmed.
