Al Shabbab Kill Teachers in School Attack

Suspected Al Shabaab Militia on Friday morning killed teachers during an attack in Qarsa, Wajir County.

Reports indicate that the victims were two non-local teachers and the wife of one of them.

Wajir County commander Stephen Ngetich confirmed the dawn attack that left more than six other teachers critically injured.

The attack that happened at 1 am took place at Kharsa Primary School.

The boarding primary school is in Kharsa village near Konton border town, which is 70km from Wajir town.

It was reported that some students went missing as they fled during the attack.

Wajir East Member of Parliament Rashid Kassim explained to KTN News that the road leading to the area has landmines, making it difficult for ambulances and security reinforcement to quickly go to the scene.

The rescue operation was being led by County AP commandant Mohamed Sheikh.

The militants are claimed to have relocated from Mandera to Wajir where there have been persistent attacks in the recent months.

On February 12, police found three bodies believed to be those of Al Shabaab fighters killed in an earlier foiled attack on a police camp in Kutulo.
