Days after being sworn in and taking over as the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Sports and Heritage, Rashid Achesa Mohammed has raised the alarm over a fake Twitter account that has assumed his persona and is sending out messages on his behalf.
The Head of Public Communication in the Ministry, Dominic Onyango, sent a statement to newsrooms stating that the account handle (@HonRashidMoham1) was bogus adding that the account may have been opened two weeks ago.
Kenyans.co.ke has established that the account which joined Twitter in January 2018, has 1687 followers having tweeted 551 times. It describes Achesa as the Cabinet Secretary, Sports, Culture and Arts in Kenya and a Professional Boxer.

In a recent tweet, the account purported that the CS had stated: "I won’t entertain cartels in football who been derailing the sports in this country. Most of the players that get called to Harambee Stars are always old players with old bones while the energetic are denied chances because they lack “godfathers”. This will not happen!"
However, Mr Onyango clarified that during the handover at the Ministry on Monday, CS Achesa did not make any reference to Harambee Stars.
Taking to social media on Wednesday in a new account opened in February, the Sports CS dissociated himself from any content posted on the fake account.
"Kindly note that @HonRashidMoham1 is not my authentic Twitter account. It is a fake account and I disassociate myself from any content posted. This, however, is my official account," he tweeted on Wednesday.
The new CS assumed office on Tuesday at Kencom House. He gave a few remarks in the presence of the media and ministry officials promising to make an overview of the Ministry's way forward at a later date.

During the ceremony, the Ministry of Sports official twitter account tagged the fake account in a post where Achesa received a Ministerial Report from former CS Hassan Wario, who is going to serve as Kenya's ambassador to Austria.
