COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli Explains How Uhuru has Given Raila Powers

Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU-K) Secretary General Francis Atwoli on Wednesday explained how President Uhuru Kenyatta has given National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga powers in the country.

Speaking during his interview at JKL Show on Citizen TV, Atwoli noted that by the President entertaining what he referred to as 'Raila's gimmicks' has enhanced the opposition leader's popularity among the people.

According to the unionist, the Head of State would be in the best position to join up forces and work together with Mr Odinga but he is yet to make that move.

He cited the President's kind-heartedness as something that would have enabled a fruitful union between the duo.

Atwoli added that former President Mwai Kibaki is the only Kenyan who has successfully managed to "tame" the NASA principal.

The outspoken workers' boss highlighted that Kibaki was able to humble Odinga with his silent treatment towards the former Prime Minister's political jibes.

Speaking to Jeff Koinange, Atwoli observed that the ruling party has also made Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho a hero making him what he termed the most admired leader.

Likewise, he asserted that lawyer Miguna Miguna has also been a beneficiary of being popularised by the Jubilee party following the controversies that have happened since his deportation.

Atwoli affirmed that if Miguna Miguna was to vie for the Nairobi gubernatorial position today, he would defeat Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

He also reiterated that he is not interested in joining politics as he was rumored to be contemplating joining NASA.
