Francis Atwoli Advises Uhuru to Fire his Advisers

COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has advised President Uhuru Kenyatta to fire his advisers if he intends to solve the stalemate in the country.

Speaking during JKL show on Citizen TV, Secretary-General voiced that President Kenyatta has been a victim of ill advice.

According to Atwoli, the Head of State "has been relying too much on opportunists and political brokers for advice."

Atwoli added that instead, President Kenyatta should seek the advice of independent-minded individuals before making critical decisions.

"He is free to call me for advice; we shall tell him what is needed to be done to fix the problems we are going through as a country," Atwoli stated.

The outspoken trade unionist expressed that those around the President were the main hurdle in reaching him.

"I don’t want handouts from him! I want to advise him! I will tell him the truth! The people around him are opportunists!! If you have such people around you, you're in trouble. You need to have people who can criticize you," Atwoli exclaimed.

In his view, the President is kind-hearted and well-meaning in his leadership were it not for the ill advice he receives.

"He doesn't behave as if he was born in State House, sometimes he can just decide to go out of his way to appease the lowly placed Kenyans if were not for those poor advisers of his, but they will be arrested," he concluded.

He remarked that some of the recent actions of the government including deportation of Miguna Miguna, the switching-off of TV signals and the failure to respect court orders were a result of ill advice.

"He is our Head of State, even if he called me now I would go there. His office is the symbol of our national unity and we respect it," Atwoli expressed his preparedness to offer advice.
