Former President Daniel Moi on Thursday mourned United States televangelist Billy Graham who passed away on Wednesday at the age of 99 years.

Moi, who is 93 years old, lauded the departed evangelist whose five philanthropic initiatives in Kapsowar Hospital, Tenwek Mission, Chogoria, Kijabe and more recently at Kabarak helped to greatly improve medical services.

Recounting Graham's contributions, ex-President Moi outlined that the departed Reverend had changed many hearts.

His statement further observed that through his Samaritan's Purse initiative and the Billy Graham Foundation, the televangelist had impacted Kenya.

The ex-President further added that Graham's humanitarian efforts had spread throughout Africa including South Sudan, Somaliland and Congo.

Leaders of the world continued to send in their condolence messages to the family and the Christian fraternity through the day.

President Uhuru Kenyatta, in a series of tweets on Thursday, mourned the Reverend remembering his previous visits to the country.

"We in Kenya were fortunate to host him twice: in 1960 and in 1976. His words won many hearts; and the ministries which were inspired by his example and strengthened by his support count millions of Kenya among their adherents.

"We thank God for his life and his service, and we pray that his ministry will continue to teach and to inspire all those who thirst for truth," the President tweeted.

The departed Reverend will be buried on March 2 in a private funeral service at his world-famous Charlotte Library.
