President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition Leader Raila Odinga on Friday met for the first time since the Supreme Court nullified the August 8 presidential election.
The Head of State and the former Prime Minister shared a platform at the burial of former Nairobi Mayor Samuel Mbugua, who is the father of former Nairobi Woman Representative Rachel Shebesh. The burial was held at the late mayor's Marion Farm House home in Kiambu.
The ODM leader condoled the family and urged President Kenyatta to respect old men.
President Kenyatta on his part urged Mr Odinga to learn to respect the will of Kenyans adding that the people are ready to go back to the ballot to make their decision known again.
“Let us go back to the ballot and let the citizens decide. Raila said Uhuru should respect old men and I respect old men but l tell him to respect the decision of Kenyans,” said the President.
Mr Odinga was attending the funeral courtesy of his close relationship with the family. The former prime minister worked with the late Mr Mbugua in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and also nominated Mbugua's daughter, Shebesh, to the National Assembly in 2008.
Other leaders present at the funeral included Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja, Kiambu Town MP Jude Njomo, former Nyandarua Governor Waithaka Mwangi and former Nyandarua Woman Representative Wanjiku Muhia.

Shebesh's father died on Wednesday 13th Septemeber while receiving treatment at the Aga Khan hospital.
He previously served as mayor of Nairobi between 1998 and 1999.
