Majority Leader Aden Duale Reveals Jubilee's Plan to Revisit the Judiciary

National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale on Tuesday stated that when the Jubilee Party commences on its threat to revisit the Judiciary issue it would draft a 'serious' petition.

Speaking during a parliamentary session, the Garissa Town MP distanced the party from the petition that was filed by lawyer Adrian Kamotho Njenga seeking the removal of Chief Justice David Maraga, Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu and five more members of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

"The petition is misplaced and has nothing to do with Jubilee party's revisiting the Judiciary agenda. When we intend to revisit (the Judiciary) we will prepare a very serious petition that is well researched on anybody," he conveyed.

He dismissed the petition filed by the lawyer stating that it should be discussed in the Bunge la Mwananchi adding that anyone intending to file a petition against any holder of public office should do their research.

"That is why Mr Speaker we have seen many busybodies who file petitions and when they fail they are slapped with hefty fines," he stated.

On Tuesday, Duale himself survived an election petition filed by Wiper Deputy Party leader Farah Maalim who was ordered to pay Sh6 Million after the case was dismissed.

He added that he would not pursue the money that Farah was told to pay him in the petition.

"IEBC can follow up for their money in the petition, but I have instructed my lead counsel Ahmednasir not to because we believe in community harmony," he stated.

He added that through the fines, the court had sent a message to petitioners not to file cases without evidence, a move he urged parliament to follow.

"This house must deal with for anybody who brings a petition that has no legs to stand so as to ensure that it not used by people with malicious intentions," the Majority leader divulged.
