ODM's New Slogan That Sidelines NASA Parties

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party on Wednesday unveiled a new slogan - "ODM Kwanza" (which translates to ODM first) a move to put the party's interest ahead of other parties which could sideline National Super Alliance (NASA) affiliates.

Speaking when taking over as the party's Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna stated that he would work tirelessly to revamp the party by solidifying the support base throughout the country.

“Gone are the days when members were suffocated and not allowed to speak, time to speak for the betterment of our party is now.

"We will not apologize anymore for being the most popular party in the country. We will not apologize for being the most organized party and we shall join hands to continue building our party” he stated adding that his motto for the party would be “ODM Kwanza."

He disclosed that he would embark on a process of recruiting new members ahead of the 2022 general election.

“We want to restore the pride of ODM members and make them hope and think. I want to encourage those members who may have felt disadvantaged in the party and left to come back so that we can steer our beloved party to greater heights,” he stated.

Sifuna who was taking over from outgoing Acting Secretary General Dr Agnes Zani stated that the party had not made a decision on whether or not to support the proposed amendments to the constitution on the reorganization of the structure of governance in Kenya.

He reiterated that the party would enhance its fight against electoral injustice and prevent the country from falling into a dictatorship.

He urged other NASA affiliate parties to be steadfast in the fight and follow ODM's lead in the fight for democracy.

The Secretary-General further condemned yesterday’s killing of a Meru University Student Leader Mr Evans Njoroge aka Kidero by police as he led his fellow students in fighting for their rights at the university.

“It does not matter where this took place, be it in our strongholds or not, we must fight for the end of extra-judicial killings in the country. Every life matters," he explained.
