Details of Private Meeting Raila Odinga Had with Mining CS John Munyes

Mining & Petroleum Cabinet Secretary John Munyes on Thursday revealed details of a meeting he held with Opposition chief Raila Odinga

CS Munyes outlined that he sought out the National Super Alliance (NASA) by his own initiative in a bid to encourage collaboration among politicians.

He went on to elaborate that the NASA chief advised him to show impartiality in his dealings at the Ministry.

"I would like to urge all politicians in the country to move forward.

"I even took the initiative recently and met NASA leader Raila Odinga who urged me to continue serving all Kenyans," he revealed.

The Mining Secretary went on to silence rumours that he and Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok were at loggerheads following the conclusion of an election petition where Munyes challenged Nanok's August 2017 victory.

"As CS, I cannot afford to start wars with the Governor. I have accepted to work closely with him," Munyes stated.

The CS was in Mombasa inspecting a section of the petroleum pipeline that is under construction ahead of its commissioning later on in March.

He emphasised that he was done with fighting the outgoing Council of Governors (CoG) Chairman and asked fellow politicians to put politics aside and move on.

The Mining docket is embroiled in a court battle with former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama, where the NASA leader claims he lost millions after the Ministry revoked his company's licence.
