Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has called on Kenyan car-owners to start carpooling as a way of saving the planet.
Speaking in her car, the lawmaker, who was riding with her Vihiga County counterpart, Beatrice Adagala, adviced Kenyans who own cars to start inviting their friends to ride with them in order to reduce carbon emission.
"Whenever you are alone in your car, you can always call on your friends who are going in the same destination as you are and you can actually carpool as a way of saving the planet, "she stated.

Passaris divulged that she had put out an offer to her fellow women leaders, who were having a conference in Naivasha so that they could carpool as they went for the meeting since she had space in her car.
Speaking in the same broadcast, Ms Adagala added that carpooling idea also helps reduce road traffic.
In her live video, Passaris reminded drivers road rules on overtaking.
Passaris further added that people ought to be careful as they drive lest they get involved in an otherwise avoidable accident.
"My driver and I have a rule that we only drive between 80-100 kilometre per hour, "she noted.
The lawmaker's call comes at a time where legislators are advocating for the preservation of water reserves and climate.
President Uhuru Kenyatta recently ordered a ban on logging in the country as a way of preserving the country's environment.
