ODM to Support Raila Odinga for 2022 Presidency

A section of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leaders has declared that National Super Alliance (NASA) boss Raila Odinga will be their preferred candidate for 2022 presidency.

Led by ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, the leaders affirmed that Raila will not support Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Ford-Kenya leader Moses Wetangula or Amani National Congress (ANC) party's Musalia Mudavadi if they vie for the same.

The ODM party secretary-general maintained that they could not support "cowards" after the three co-principals skipped the controversial January 30 'swearing-in' of Raila.

"If you were not at Uhuru Park, do not come to us for consideration of any manner. You are simply a coward," Sifuna stated.

Nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi, who is a member of ANC, stated that he was ready to rally all youth behind Raila.

"We are firm because we are confident Raila is the only man to deliver this country from the hands of cartels," he noted.

Uriri legislator Mark Nyamita also maintained that for the longest time, the coalition had invested a lot in preparing the principals for leadership and Raila had shown remarkable skills in leadership.

His sentiments were also supported by Alego Usoga lawmaker Samuel Atandi, who further advised Raila to stand his ground instead of supporting the other co-principals.

Mathare MP Antony Oluoch, on his part, maintained that strong leadership was essential adding that the country was in a bad state.

The Alliance has a memorandum of understanding signed by the four NASA principals and deposited with the Registrar of Political Parties before the August 2017 elections.

The agreement stipulates that ODM will not field a candidate come 2022, but the party's new secretary general has seemingly rejected it.
