Boni Khalwale Posts His Driving Licence and Kenyans Can't Keep Calm

Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale was on Thursday made fun of by tweeps after he posted his newly acquired driving licence.

The outspoken leader captioned the image thanking the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) for their efficiency in their service delivery.

"Congratulations @ntsa_kenya for issuing me with the new smart Driving Licence in a record 25 minutes when I visited your offices today. Your young members of staff were just fantastic!" he exclaimed.

However, while some tweeps applauded him for moving with the shift as the new driving licences were rolled out last year, others did not have kind words for him.

One tweep commented: "NTSA am coming for mine and it better be 25minutes!"

Additionally, another one queried why he is yet to receive his smart ID yet he applied for it in October 2017.

A concerned Kenyan was quick to ask: "So this smart DL is for celebrities? The other day it was @LarryMadowo today it's mtetezi. Yet we're told it's not been rolled out. What's going on?"

Another user mentioned that the former legislator should have just worn his spectacles since he does look better having them on.

In January, transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia announced that issuance of the new generation digital driving licenses, with Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers being given priority.

The new e-licence is meant to cost drivers Sh3,000 each.

"The new generation e-license will be issued to all drivers starting this January in a phased programme and priority given to PSV vehicles," Macharia stated.
