David Ndii Apologises for Sharing Fake News on Daniel Moi's Death

National Super Alliance (NASA) Chief Strategist, David Ndii, on Tuesday apologised for sharing misleading information claiming former President Daniel Arap Moi had passed on.

Mr Ndii had shared an article by Global News which alleged that the former President had died while undergoing treatment in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Shortly after posting the tweet, he pulled it down and immediately posted another clarifying that the article he had shared was not factual.

"Fake news apparently, Cruel," he wrote on his Twitter Page.

He further apologized after he was advised by one user to always verify sensitive information before sharing.

Following the reactions that the tweet caused, the Economist acknowledged the mistake noting that he had actually learnt his lesson.

Without giving the cause of his purported death, Global News had stated that Mzee Moi died at a hospital in Tel Aviv after all efforts by doctors to save him were futile.

However, Kenya African National Union (KANU) released a statement affirming that Moi had improved significantly and would be back home soon.

"His Excellency Daniel Arap Moi is doing well and responding well to treatment. He is also jovial and in high spirits and should be home soon," stated the party on its Facebook page.

The former President was accompanied by his son - Baringo Senator Gideon Moi - and his physician Dr. David Silverstein.

According to Dr. Silverstein, the visit to Israel is meant to seek a second opinion on his knee problem.
