Boni Khalwale Urges Moses Wetangula, Kalonzo Musyoka & Musalia Mudavadi to Form The New Opposition

Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale on Sunday stated that National Super Alliance (NASA) Principals Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi should form a strong opposition in light of the new pact between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.

Through his social media, the NASA politician stated that the three should resist joining the government while supporting dialogue.

Khalwale  stated that a strong opposition was needed for: "(1) effective oversight (2) adequate legislation for the creation of new offices, technical/financial support under the new Uhuru-Raila project."

His revelation came amidst rising speculation of isolation of the three principals by the Orange Democratic Movement party.

Earlier on Thursday, ODM attempted to ouster Wetangula as the Senate Minority Chief Whip. A move which Khalwale opined would reduce Raila's popularity in the Western region.

"Wetangula is not the leader of the minority of ODM. He is the leader of the minority of NASA.

"The attempted move by ODM senators to oust him was wrong. This basically shifts the balance of support (for Odinga) in western to ANC and Ford Kenya," he remarked.

Similarly, on Saturday, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria stated that Kenya would be de-facto one-party democracy in 2018 - meaning there would be no meaningful opposition in the country.

On his part, Raila announced that he would visit Kisumu with President Kenyatta after their unity deal last week.

Speaking during a funeral in Kisii county, he stated that he will be accompanied by the President during his visit to the Nyanza region.
