The Strategy I'll Use to Remove Uhuru from Office - Miguna Miguna

Self-proclaimed General of National Resistance Movement (NRM) Miguna Miguna has laid out a plan supposedly aimed at removing President Uhuru Kenyatta from office.

Speaking in Minnesota during a tour to popularise his NRM abroad, Miguna stated he intends to hold a-million-man protest in Nairobi involving all Kenyans opposed to President Kenyatta’s government.

“About 65 percent to 70 percent of Kenyans do not support Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto; this was evident on October 26, 2017, repeat election (which Raila Odinga boycotted).

“We know that Uhuru on his second address after being inaugurated could not have even 10,000 people to cheer him during Jamhuri Day celebrations, while NRM had a million people at Uhuru Park for Raila’s swearing-in," the lawyer affirmed.

He maintained that he would rally those opposed to the government to have a mega protest in a bid to pressure Kenyatta out of office.

“We need civilians who do not support Uhuru to come to the streets, occupy them peacefully and refuse to go home.

“You cannot shoot a million people, which is why they were unable to shoot us on January 30 during the swearing-in; if I put a million NRM soldiers on the streets, they will not shoot,” stated Miguna.

The lawyer added that his strategy is similar to what was used to fight dictatorial regimes in Burkina Faso, Iran and Philippines.

“Popular direct action is what brings democracy and fortifies it; the rule of law is protected by the people themselves," he asserted.

On his relationship with ODM leader Raila Odinga, Miguna revealed that they were in talking terms rubbishing claims of a fallout.

“The man (Raila) is old and tired. I fully support him; but we have to finish the journey. Why wait for Raila to give directions? He called me before the handshake and told me Jubilee people had been calling him; I told him I support him 100 per cent.

“Raila has not said Miguna is wrong, or Miguna should stop. He will do what he has to do, I’ll do what I have to do - all we need to do is reach Canaan. If I reach there first I will call him,” the political analyst maintained.

Miguna also hit out at the government over a plan to ban NRM noting that it was a movement and not a political party. He revealed that NRM has no intention of taking part in elections, noting that their intention is to endure electoral justice is realised in Kenya.

“Now they say we are a militia. How can you be a militia without guns? When they purported to ban us, I went to court for one day and the judges overturned it. You cannot deregister something you have not registered,” he remarked.
