Kalonzo, Wetangula, Mudavadi on Vote Hunting Mission in Kitui West

National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi were on Monday forced to go it alone after former Prime Minister Raila Odinga ditched their joint campaigns mission.

The NASA leaders had scheduled a series of vote hunting campaigns in Kitui West constituency ahead of the March 26, 2018, by-election.

Sources close to the former PM conveyed that the ODM co-principal cancelled the plans citing bad weather as a hindrance.

The cancellation has further widened the perceived rift within the coalition as the three "isolated" principals continue to demand a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The Opposition leaders were set to drum up support for Edith Nyenze, wife to the former MP Francis Nyenze who is vying on a Wiper party ticket.

Ms Nyenze is seeking to replace her husband who passed away causing the seat to fall vacant.

Four others had been cleared by IEBC, however, it is rumoured that Ford-Kenya candidate Robert Mutiso Leli will back out of the race in support of the Wiper one.

Edith will now battle it out with Hannington Mbiti of the Muungano party, Elijah Kilonzi of Chama Cha Mapinduzi and Frida Mutui of the Kenya National Congress.

Mutiso and Kilonzi accused IEBC officials of allegedly assisting Ms Nyenze with her campaigns.

"I have already filed a protest with the Kitui West election coordinator. We want a level playing ground," Kilonzi stated.

In response, the first-time politician stated: "All these allegations are unfounded and baseless. They are from people who are crying wolf because they have realised I will beat them on election day."
