Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi Convene Meeting Without Raila

National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi on Friday convened a meeting in Karen, Nairobi to discuss the future of the Opposition coalition.

The NASA leaders excluded Raila Odinga in the crucial meeting which was centered on the ‘divorce talks’ amid allegations by NASA affiliate parties of being sidelined.

During their meeting, they also declared their unwavering support for Wetangula a day after Senators allied to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) moved a motion seeking to replace Mr Wetangula as the Minority Leader in the Senate.

Mr Wetangula suffered a setback after the senators successfully voted to replace him with Siaya Senator James Orengo.

In reaction to this move, Wetangula warned that dumping him would not be an easy task adding that it would also have casualties.

"I want to say this, Mr Speaker, if anybody wants a divorce, it would be messy, it would be noisy, it would be unhelpful, it would not be easy, it would have casualties,” Mr. Wetangula remarked.

The Opposition outfit has been facing wrangles since President Uhuru Kenyatta met Mr Odinga and the duo announced that they agreed to work together for the sake of peace and development.

The rift intensified when Majority Leader in Parliament Aden Duale announced that Jubilee Party was ready to form a coalition with ODM for the 2022 General Election.

Meanwhile, Wiper Party, Amani National Congress (ANC) and Ford-Kenya leaders met on Thursday and hinted that they were ready to become the official opposition if ODM merges with Jubilee Party.

ANC Deputy Party leader Ayub Savula asserted that the three political outfits have agreed to ditch ODM if it engages itself in a partnership with the ruling party.

"In case ODM engages Jubilee in a partnership that just involves them and Jubilee or it is swallowed by Jubilee in the arrangement, we will divorce them," Savula exclaimed.
