MP Richard Onyonka Warns ODM on Ditching Wetang'ula

Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka has warned the Raila Odinga-led Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) that they will not succeed without Moses Wetang'ula and Ford-Kenya.

Onyonka stated that the move to oust Wetang'ula as Senate Minority leader had angered him as it threatened the unity of the National Super Alliance (NASA).

“If ODM feels it has reached a point they are feeling they can make it on their own, they are cheating themselves,” he affirmed.

The MP, who is also Ford-K Deputy Chairman, urged Raila to embrace all-inclusive leadership.

“Mr Odinga should know now that Kenya needs an all-inclusive leadership. If they are going to sit and say ‘we don’t want any other partner’ they are cheating themselves,”  Onyonka reiterated.

He then declared that ODM had no chance of ascending to power on its own.

Onyonka spoke at Daraja Mbili Secondary in Kisii Town on Tuesday evening during an education stakeholders forum.

NASA-allied senators had on Tuesday voted to replace Wetang'ula with Siaya Senator James Orengo.

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala was chosen to deputize Orengo.

It later emerged that Raila had told NASA senators not to oust Wetang'ula but his directive was defied.
