Mike Sonko Offers Sh300,000 Reward For Deadly Gang

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has offered a Sh300,000 cash reward for a gang that has been terrorizing residents of Eastlands.

Sonko stated that he would pay the reward to anyone who brought help or information that would to their arrest.

He shared security footage of the gang in action, in which the group of 4 storms a kinyozi (barber shop).

The gang is seen roughing up customers and robbing them before making their exit.

The faces of the gang members can be clearly seen, with a gun-toting man in a cap seemingly the leader.

The armed gang that appears in the attached CCTV footage has been terrorising Eastlands residents in Nairobi. I'm seeking for public help that will lead to their arrest. A REWARD of Ksh 300,000 will be paid for this useful information. Call or text details to 0722886600. pic.twitter.com/HVY7qD2ARV

The governor also shared a phone number which  he wants the public to use to share information on the criminals.

Earlier in the year, an upsurge in cases of brazen robberies and muggings in the city was witnessed.

The Central Business District (CBD) was one of the most affected areas, with gangs such as '40 brothers' running organized criminal operations.

Sonko responded by forming an anti-mugging squad specifically mandated with dealing with the insecurity.

Police also launched an operation of their own to rid the streets of the gangs.
