Why NASA's Collapse Will Hurt Kenya - CS Eugene Wamalwa

Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa has called for concerted efforts to ensure the NASA coalition holds together.

Speaking during an interview on NTV on Friday morning, the CS argued that the unity of NASA is good as its diverse composition helps in detribalisation of Kenyan politics.

"I hope NASA does not collapse because a united NASA is good for Kenyans as it unifies the country.

"Its composition (ANC, Wiper Party, Ford Kenya and ODM) is a direction that Kenyan politics should take," he remarked.

Wamalwa further pointed out the involvement of different tribes in Jubilee has helped unite the country and promote inclusivity.

"We should build on the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga to build a country that is united, devoid of tribal linings," he added.

The CS also noted that tribal inclusion should reflect at the county levels where 30 percent of county employees must be non-locals.

His sentiments come amid growing rifts in the opposition just weeks after Odinga struck a deal with the Head of State.

ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Kalonzo Musyoka accused the former Prime Minister of colluding with Jubilee to 'betray their course.'

In an attempt to patch up the coalition, Odinga met senators allied to NASA on Thursday to discuss the ouster of Minority leader Moses Wetangula.

The NASA principal noted that the senators will go on a retreat to discuss the issues and compile a report to be submitted within 14 days.

He further added that Wetangula also spoke about several matters during the meeting that will be part of the agenda for discussion at the retreat.
