Miguna Miguna Explains Why He Refused to Sign Documents Presented by Government

Lawyer Miguna Miguna has explained why he refused to sign documents that could have allowed him entry into the country.

In a video captured at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Miguna is heard telling his lawyers that the documents presented by the Immigration Department were a trap.

The self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) general recalled how an incident similar to what he was experiencing taught him never to trust the government.

"I can tell you that you are falling into their trap. I will not fall into a trap," Miguna told his lawyers.

"They are trying to state wave these rights then enter so there is a convenience of entering. It's always a convenience," he added.

Miguna recalled how in 1987 he was detained alongside ODM's Wafula Buke who agreed to sign a statement presented by government officials but ended up spending five years in prison.

The NRM general stated: "In 1987 Buke did exactly that. I was detained for two weeks with Wafula Buke."

"They brought a statement told us we are going to be released if we sign the statements. Buke signed the statement, I refused. He spent the next five years in jail. I was released."

The opposition politician spent Monday night at the JKIA after he refused to be deported by the state to Dubai.

Not even policemen could force the lawyer into the plane as he noisily resisted being bundled into the Emirates flight forcing the pilot to take off without him.
