Miguna Refuses to Board Dubai Plane

Lawyer Miguna Miguna refused to board a plane destined for Dubai on Monday night despite police officers forcing him onto the plane.

The self-declared NRM general was bundled into the plane and his clothes were torn by the officers but he insisted he would not travel.

"I am not going. I do not have a passport...I have no relatives in Dubai.

"The captain has a legal obligation. There is no way he can take me to Dubai by force," he remarked.

According to Citizen TV journalist Jeff Koinange who was on the plane, the captain had been ordered by immigration officers to turn around the plane and ensure Miguna is taken to Dubai.

The Emirates flight was delayed for more than one hour before Miguna disembarked and the doors were closed.

Prior to that, there was a scuffle as journalists tried to cover the story and Citizen TV reporter Stephen Letoo was roughed up by GSU officers.

Miguna was deported to Canada in February after he participated in the swearing in of NASA leader Raila Odinga as the people's president.

Following his deportation on February 6, 2018, the High Court ruled that the move was illegal and ordered the State to facilitate his safe return to the country.
