Journalist Dennis Omondi Pleads for Sh6 Million for Cancer Treatment

West FM radio presenter Dennis Musindi Omondi is appealing to wellwishers to help him raise Sh6 million to undergo a bone marrow transplant in India.

An emotional Omondi narrated how the hospital he is admitted to in India had halted giving him treatment since he hadn't raised the money required.

Omondi, who is a father of one and he and his wife are expecting another baby in May 2018, was admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) before he was flown out to India for specialised treatment.

He told the Star he had been treated for Malaria but his illness persisted even after doctors ran several blood tests.

Later on, he notes that his doctor told him he had an abnormal production of red and white blood cells.

The doctors, however, did not tell him what type of bacterial infection he was suffering from, only giving him some antibiotics and advising him to return after a week.

Omondi stated: "I visited the Kenya Medical Association and requested to see doctor Walter Mwanda. Though he was not in, I was given an appointment and I went. He conducted a full blood test on me."

The journalist noted that when the results were submitted they were similar to those at Shalom hospital and doctor Mwanda decided to do a bone marrow test which indicated he had Acute Leukemia.

"The doctor advised me to start immediate medication and referred me to Kenyatta where I was admitted. He advised that the best option will be to do Chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant," Omondi maintained.

Kenyans are urged to help Dennis Omondi raise Sh6.5 million through Mpesa paybill 138182, account number 1222903350 or alternatively send funds to his bank KCB Milimani Branch, account name Dennis Musindi, account number 1222903350.
