Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko Responds to Harsh Critism from Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Monday engaged in a bitter online battle with blogger Cyprian Nyakundi over the management of the county projects.

The controversial blogger faulted the governor for taking credit for purchasing hospital equipment from abroad instead of promoting local industries.

"Sonko ananunua tanks of oxygen, na anawika ati vile amefanya kazi, yet these same tanks zinakuwanga na wasee wa welding mtaani (Sonko buys tanks of oxygen, and boasts of how he is working for the country, yet these same tanks can be purchased from welders in Nairobi)" Nyakundi tweeted.

The rest of the tweet was laced with vulgar language that is not suitable for publishing.

In a quick rejoinder, Sonko questioned whether the criticism was warranted adding that the comment was just part of what leaders go through.

"Good morning watu wangu. Kweli viongozi tunapitia mambo mingi mtu kama huyu hufanywa nini ama criticism aina hii inaruhusiwa? (Good morning my people. We, leaders, go through alot. What do you do someone like this or this type of criticism acceptable)" the governor wrote on Facebook.

Sonko supporters urged the county head to dismiss Nyakundi's post and focus on delivering for the people of Nairobi.

"Nyakundi tu anatafta relevance. Infact delete the post unampa unnecessary attention (which loosely translates to: Nyakundi is looking for relevance. As a matter of fact delete the post for you are giving him unnecessary attention)" one user wrote.

Another stated: "Don't worry Baba saumu you know the tree that bears fruits ndio urushiwa mawe focus in delivering service to wananchi of Nairobi critics will always be there."

"Good morning Nairobi Governor Sonko don't listen to what people are saying about just focus ahead coz when you listen to them am sure, you'll not do your work comfortably," one user concurred.

However, on twitter, Nyakundi seemed to have the upper hand as continued with his unrelenting onslaught on the governor.

One user sided with the blogger conveying: "Wonders of the world, so @MikeSonko who has made a career for being ratchet and known for using uncensored abusive language is calling out @C_NyaKundiH for serving him a dose of his own."

"So @MikeSonko Took his beef with Nyakundi to Facebook and avoided Twitter because he knows the mature Twitter audience cant buy his cheap theatrics and only the low-rated and dumb facebook Kenyans can buy the nonsense," another wrote.
