US president Donald Trump on Tuesday revealed that US ambassador to Kenya nominee Kyle McCarter had not commenced on his diplomatic duties due to obstruction and delay by the Democrats in the US Senate.
Through his social media, the President expressed frustration disclosing that it would take a long time to get his nominees confirmed.
"39% of my nominations, including Diplomats to foreign lands, have not been confirmed due to Democrat obstruction and delay. At this rate, it would take more than 7 years before I am allowed to have these great people start working. Never happened before. Disgraceful!" he tweeted on Tuesday.

According to statistics published by CNN, President Trump has nominated far fewer candidates as compared to his predecessors.
“I’m generally not going to make a lot of the appointments that would normally be because you don’t need them. I mean, you look at some of these agencies, how massive they are, and it’s totally unnecessary. They have hundreds of thousands of people,” Trump told Forbes in an interview published in October.
The news agency added that even though Trump has a majority in the Senate he often blames the Democrats for the logjam.
"Democrats can no longer filibuster presidential appointments, but they have used procedural tactics to slow some down. They insist that Trump controls the pace of his nominations. Here’s a look at how long the process has taken for each of Trump’s nominees so far," reads a report on the CNN website.
Earlier on Thursday, reports by White House confirmed that Trump had announced his intent to nominate McCarter to replace Godec since he had applied for the job in 2017 after working in Kenya for over 30 years.
An excited Kyle stated: “It is an honour to be asked to represent President Trump and our great nation in a country where I have lived and served for many years.”
He further maintained: “I look forward to bringing about a closer relationship that will benefit both our nations.”
