Kirinyaga Governor Anne Mumbi Waiguru has unearthed a mega land scam involving over 7,200 title deeds.
According to the county chief, the title deeds which were allocated in the Mwea Settlement Scheme are invalid since the due process was not followed in their issuance.
Reports by The Standard indicate that the beaconing of the land in Mbeere South is being done by the Embu County Government reportedly after the land was subdivided in 2016 and 7,232 titles issued.

Waiguru and other Kirinyaga leaders have however opposed the move and dismissed reports that the process of surveying and allocating land at the scheme was undertaken and completed by the Embu County Government and the National Land Commission.
"The purported subdivision and allocation is not just utterly unethical and highly irregular but also an assault on the rule of law, because it has been done in contravention of an active court order.
"It is an affront to the values of good neighbourliness, inclusivity, and fairness. The move is bad, uncalled for and should not be supported by any sane person," a statement by Waiguru and other county leaders read.
Waiguru's name is synonymous with the Ksh 791million National Youth Service (NYS) scandal which she claims to have been the first whistleblower.
Although she was initially considered an accomplice in the mega NYS scam, she later turned a State witness in the case which remains unresolved.
At the height of the scandal, the governor opted to step down as the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for the Ministry of Devolution and Planning.

She later joined the Kirinyaga gubernatorial race where she emerged victorious and later on proceeded to be elected the vice-chairperson of the Council of Governors.
