Kenya Bids to Host 2021 World Chambers Conference

Kenya has launched a bid to host the 2021 World Chambers Congress (WCC) in Nairobi.

The event draws over 3,000 delegates from the various chambers of commerce across the world.

Top officials of the Kenya National.Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) flew to Beijing, China to lobby for the 12th WCC to come to Kenya.

The bid is sanctioned by President Uhuru Kenyatta and will see a special commitee in a serious shuttle diplomacy push.

The commitee led by James Mureu plans to visit most of the 177 affiliate member chambers of the WCC.

The event targets the business community, international business associations, government institutions, Nairobi business community and regional headquarters in Nairobi.

The committee further plans to use key opinion leaders to shape opinion on the event and educate the public on its importance.

According to bid documents, the event will be held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

KICC Chief Executive Nana Gecaga noted that the proposed venue had adequate facilities to host the event.

The team will also be banking on the city's reputation as a regional and cultural hub to secure the event.
