Kenya Power Announces Restoration of Prepaid Service

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) announced that prepaid services are fully restored following delays that made it difficult for consumers to purchase tokens through virtual wallets.

The company's Corporate Affairs representative Kevin Sang told Kenyans.co.ke on Tuesday that the issues which caused the delays had been resolved by a team working around the clock.

"Yes it's fully restored. People can buy tokens on the usual platforms," he stated.

"Dear customer, further to our earlier communication we wish to inform you that prepaid services have been fully restored. We apologize for inconvenience caused," a text message that was later sent out to consumers read.

The resolution came as a relief to many electricity consumers who prefer to acquire the tokens through mobile money platforms.

A number had taken to social media to vent their frustrations with some claiming they faced delays of up to 15 hours.

After concerns were raised, KPLC advised customers to purchase tokens from banking halls while the situation was resolved.

"Dear esteemed customer, we are eperiencing delays in prepaid token generation. You can buy tokens from our banking halls countrywide.

"Please bear with us as we resolve the issue. We apologize for the incovenience caused," a statement from the company read.

Users would have to inform cashiers the amount they wanted to spend on tokens after which the cashiers would generate the tokens from the vending machines.
