Ahmednasir Reveals 2 Things That Will Determine AG Kihara's Fate

Renowned Nairobi Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi on Thursday mentioned that Attorney General Paul Kihara's tenure will be defined by two things.

Ahmednasir stated that the Judge Warsame saga and the quality of advise the AG gives to President Uhuru Kenyatta will play a huge part in shaping his legacy.

"The Judge Warsame saga & the quality of advise AG Kihara gives to HE Uhuru will be a defining event in his tenure.

"He has two choices. To emulate Charles Njonjo & be a great AG or to be a "water carrier" like his immediate predecessor," wrote the Senior Counsel.

Members of Parliaments on Wednesday adopted a report blocking the appointment of Justice Mohamed Warsame to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

The Justice and Legal Affairs Committee chaired by Baringo North MP William Cheptumo on Tuesday tabled a report protesting High Court orders stopping the committee from vetting Mr Warsame.

Warsame’s name was submitted to the National Assembly by President Kenyatta for vetting before he could appoint him to serve in the commission.

Kihara officially took over from Prof Githu Muigai earlier this month and warned that during his tenure all judicial officers will be expected to adhere to the Constitution, failure to which they will face the law.

Having excelled at his previous roles in the judiciary, many expect him to offer the Head of State the right kind of advise as opposed to his predecessor who had been accused of misleading Kenyatta on several legal matters.

Muigai was recently appointed to be the new chairperson of the Council of Legal Education.
