Deputy President William Ruto's bid to ascend to the Presidency has continued attracting attention from different quotas.
The recent development is the warming up between him and Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok with reports of a possibly blossoming political bond.
Turkana South Member of Parliament James Lomenen has asked the DP Ruto to consider the Turkana county boss as his pick in his 2022 presidential bid.

"Nanok has steered the county well. When he is done with his two terms, he is qualified to be your running mate," Lomenen told the DP.
The cordial relationship between the two was evident in early April where Ruto stood up to receive Nanok during the homecoming ceremony for Trade Principal Secretary Chris Kiptoo - an unusual move given that DP holds a higher office.
The two were also together during the Fourth Turkana Tourism and Cultural Festival at the Ekalees Cultural Centre in Lodwar where they stated that they had bridged the political gulf between them.
Although Ruto did not respond on whether he would consider Nanok, he indicated that he recognized Nanok’s leadership qualities and capability.
This he revealed was the reason he had pushed for Nanok to be retained as the Council of Governors chairman last year despite the Jubilee Party having a majority of the members.
On working with the government, Nanok stated: "I made a decision to work with the government immediately after the repeat elections. I accepted that Kenyans had made their decision and we had to respect that."

Nanok was the only opposition governor to attend the swearing-in of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy despite being elected on the Orange Democratic Movement party ticket and formerly a valued political asset to opposition leader Raila Odinga.
