Mike Sonko Urges President Uhuru to Meet With Moses Wetangula

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Wednesday urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to meet with Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula together with the other opposition leaders.

Speaking in City Hall when the Bungoma Senator paid him a visit, Sonko asked the President to meet the leaders as a sign of him extending the unity agreement to them.

Sonko further stated: "Hosting Ford Kenya leader and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula this morning at City Hall, where we discussed various issues of national interest.

"Let's advocate for peace harmony and unity across the country and dedicate ourselves to serving Kenyans despite our political background or religion," the County boss added.

The Nairobi chief also noted that political dissimilarities between various leaders should not limit them from serving the great people of Kenya.

The former Senate Minority leader conveyed: "This is my maiden visit since you were elected as Governor. You have done a lot especially in uniting Kenyans. When you were a senator we used to work so closely. Nairobi is the ‘eye’ of Kenya."

Wetangula also lauded Sonko for the war on graft.

He also applauded the County boss for always uniting Kenyans despite their religion, family or political background.

On Tuesday, the Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka also paid Sonko a courtesy call, where he told the County boss to focus on service delivery.

"You have done a lot. Just continue serving Nairobians and don’t give room for corrupt individuals," directed Kalonzo.

In a statement to Kenyans.co.ke, City Hall maintained that the governor briefed Kalonzo on the war he has waged on corruption and doing away with cartels in Nairobi.

“Your Excellency (Kalonzo) we inherited a dead system, in which,  huge amounts of money have been swindled. We have since fixed all the loopholes and we shall not allow the graft to thrive in Nairobi," Sonko told Kalonzo.
