Sebastien Migne Unveiled as New Harambee Stars Coach

Sebastien Migne was on Thursday unveiled as the new coach of Kenya's national football team Harambee Stars.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) announced that he signed a 3-year deal, putting him at the helm until 2021.

Migne has been the national team coach for Congo Brazzaville and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and, before that, was in charge of  DRC's Under-20 team from 2013.

The French national had a 13-year career as a player between 1989 and 2003, having featured for French clubs La Roche VF, Stade de Vallauris and Football Club de Galliard.

As a coach, he is a protegé of his African Cup of Nations (AFCON) winning compatriot Claude Le Roy under whom he served as an Assistant Coach.

He was unveiled at a press conference at a Nairobi hotel attended by sports administrators and officials from Sportpesa who recently renewed their patnership with FKF.

The 45-year old will be tasked with getting Kenya to AFCON for the first time since 2004, with a qualifying match against Ghana looming in the horizon.

He replaces Belgian coach Paul Put who left the team to join Guinea after winning the CECAFA cup.

Put cited frustrations and unfulfilled promises from FKF chief Nick Mwendwa, Deputy President William Ruto and other senior officials.

Dutch coach Ruud Kroll had been touted as the frontrunner for the job alongside Migne.
