DP Ruto Meets Gideon Moi at The Late Baringo South MP Grace Kipchoim's Burial

Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday met with Baringo Senator Gideon Moi for the first time since his failed plan to visit former President Daniel Arap Moi at his Kabarak home.

The two met during the funeral of the late Baringo South MP Grace Kipchoim who passed on two weeks ago following a long battle with colon cancer.

The DP and the KANU party chairman are sharing the same platform in Muchongoi, Baringo County despite their perceived rivalry over the Rift Valley kingship.

Senator Moi has since been condemned by legislators allied to the DP for allegedly preventing Ruto from seeing Mzee Moi on Thursday

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, among other Jubilee leaders, attacked his Baringo counterpart over what he termed as lurking under the shadow of his father.

Murkomen told off the son of former President Moi claiming that he is trying to ride on his father's name to rise to the presidency.

However, KANU Secretary General Nick Salat dismissed claims that Gideon Moi barred the DP from seeing his father.

He noted: "Mr Moi’s life was anchored in the constitution with an elaborate and well-defined structure that clearly defines how meetings are held and conducted.

"Those who want to meet Mr Moi must ensure protocol is observed. People meet the retired President every day because there is nothing private about his life," added Salat.

Mr Ruto attended the burial alongside many other Members of Parliament(MP), Senators and Governors.
