Oscar award winner Lupita Nyong’o on Saturday made a surprise visit to the lakeside city of Kisumu.

In a visit that didn't receive any media attention, the Hollywood actress was on an apparent secret mission flanked by her aides a group of investors.

Reports indicated that she was in the company of the some of the county's Executive Committee members including Archie Alai (Tourism), Salmon Orimba (Environment), Alice Moraa (Trade), Dickson Odhiambo (Urban Planning), County Tourism Director Thomas Ouko and Comedian Jalang’o.

According to the Standard, Lupita met with her father - Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang' Nyong'o in a closed-door meeting with the investors.

The newspaper stated that the meeting was meant to identify how they could support local artists.

She later visited talent centres in the city with her security detail ensuring no one posed any danger to the A-list Hollywood star.

Her team was keen on keeping her visit private to a point where the governor's communication team that was allowed to take pictures was warned against sharing them on social media.

Among the centres, she visited was the Goan Institute where she watched a performance piece and even joined the dancers on stage.

The performers were not aware of the star's visit and were left in awe after her appearance.

One of the dancers, Diana Gaya disclosed: "It is a great honour."
