Lupita Nyong'o Publishes a Children's Book

Academy Award-winning actress, Lupita Nyong'o, is set to publish her debut children's book 'Sulwe' with Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers.

According to NewYork Times, the '12 Years A Slave'star's new project accords her the title of an 'Author.'

'Sulwe' which means 'star' in Lupita’s native language, Luo, is a story of a 5-year-old girl growing up in Kenya.

In the book, Sulwe has the darkest skin color in her family, a fact that makes her uncomfortable and determined to find a way to lighten her skin.

Ms. Nyong’o candidly acknowledged being self-conscious of her darker skin in an unforgettable speech in 2014 when she was awarded the Oscar award.

Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o's daughter has previously revealed that she feels as though she has a responsibility to promote ethnic diversity in Hollywood.

“I hope that my presence on your screens and in magazines may lead you, young girl, on a similar journey. That you will feel validation of your external beauty, but also, get to the deeper business of being beautiful inside,” Lupita expressed in an interview.

Lupita hopes to target children that are between five and seven years old and intends for the book to live beyond the fact of her high profile name and help all children reimagine what it means to be beautiful.

Governor Nyong'o's 2nd daughter has always been appreciating her parents for the role they have played in her rise to fame.

After her father's win in the gubernatorial race, she penned down a heartfelt message to him on her social media, stating that she is confident in his leadership.

Prof Nyong'o left the country for the US in December for medical reasons, and is recuperating well according to an article he wrote on Nation.
