Kisumu Senator Prof Anyang Nyong'o, who is also the father to renowned actress Lupita Nyong'o, has rubbished claims that his daughter is HIV positive.
The Senator while speaking to a local daily noted that the family was angered by the fake news that their daughter was suffering from the deadly virus and brushed off the rumors.
“It is all nonsense!” he stated.
Lupita's father made the sentiments in reaction to a story published by the Houston Chronicle claiming that the actress was living with the killer disease.
Last week, the American publication in an article titled. Enough is Enough stated that the Oscar award winner had revealed she was HIV positive.
The story reported that Lupita contracted the disease at the age 23 from an ex-boyfriend who kept his status a secret.
According to the article, the actress revealed her status after realizing that a lot of young people were scared of being tested for the first time.
The piece in the Houston Chronicle is also reported to have been fabricated as it resembles a true story of South African Isindigo TV series actress, Lesegfo Motsepe who disclosed her HIV-positive status in 2011.
Lupita is widely known for her role in the 12 Years a Slave movie that propelled her to greater heights and even won her the much coveted Oscar Award.
