Police Raise Alarm on Car Theft Syndicate Targeting Toyota Fielders

Police have announced the begining of an investigation into a car theft syndicate targeting Toyota Fielders in Embu.

Embu North OCPD Mark Wanjala revealed a surge in cases of stolen Toyota Fielders in what appears to be a co-ordinated scheme involving several gang members.

The gang targets Toyota Fielders parked in homes at night.

The police boss explained that they trail vehicles and rent houses near the car-owners homes', allowing them to study the victims and pick the opportune moment to strike.

In the past week alone, two Toyota fielders were stolen in the Kirigi and Kibugua areas.

Wanjala disclosed that many of the stolen cars are later traced to Nairobi.

Victims revealed that the gang usually smashes the windows and tampers with the ignition before making away with the Fielders.

Their actions are designed to draw the least attention towards them as possible, one victim explained.

Ann Ruguru whose fielder was also stolen disclosed that she did not hear the engine start, indicating that the thieves carry out their plans late into the night.

Police asked anyone with information on the matter to come forward and aid investigations.
