Bobasi Member of Parliament Innocent Obiri Momanyi was on Saturday evening arrested and is currently being held at Central Police Station.
Confirming the incident, Central police boss Robinson Thuku stated that the legislator was arrested at a Nairobi hotel and he would be handed to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kisii division.
The MP will be arraigned on Monday for causing a disturbance at Nyamonema quarry in his constituency.
According to reports, Obiri together with his security stormed the quarry demanding its immediate shutdown.

He argued that the quarry had a negative effect on the residents causing miscarriages and environmental degradation of the area.
His bodyguard was apprehended on Friday in Athi River and is accused of assaulting the quarry manager.
During the altercation at the quarry, one of the vehicles belonging to the company was set ablaze as the MP's bodyguard physically assaulted the quarry manager.
The area residents complained that the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) had failed to take action to stop operations at the quarry despite numerous complaints.
The MP accused the quarry operators of bribing locals to carry out their activities at the expense of the health of the people.
